Sakura song contest


Chapter 2: Naruto Nails It

The hall they had hired for the contest was decorated with a massive stage, a pit for the band they'd hired and a judges table complete with a throne on a raised dais behind it. The boys beamed at the product of their work.

''Sakura-chan and the others are gonna love it.'' Naruto said. The others nodded, glad they'd had the hindsight to invite Ino, Hinata, Tenten and Temari as judges. They didn't want Sakura to feel alone in this.

As if on cue, the doors swung open with a dull bang and six angels walked in, clad in black, floor length dresses and with dogtag necklaces. Sakura and the group behind her halted and gazed at the exquisite decor.

''I didn't know this level of excellance was attainable, you lot really out-did yourselfs.'' Tenten said, playing with one of her favourite tags.

The boys beamed brighter and clambered on stage as the girls took their places. Anko strode on stage, mic in hand and cheshire cat grin in place.

''LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME TO THE ALL-STAR SAKURA SONGING CONTEST. IN THIS CHALLENGE, CONTESTANTS WILL BE COMPETING FOR THE ONE AND ONLY SAKURA HARUNO.'' She screamed into the mic. The crowd roared with applause. Anko started again.

''ALRIGHTY, NOW WE HAVE OUR FIRST CONTENDER, THE NUMBER-ONE, KNUCHLEHEADED NINJA, NARUTO UZUMAKI.'' Naruto leapt on stage, vulpine grin shinning.

''HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO KONOHA, BELIEVE IT.'' He shrieked into his mic, temporarily deafening sasuke, who'd been leaning against on the main speakers. The raven fell to his knees, clutching his ears. The other boys roared with laughter.

The band started and  the sneakers sang with the sweet melody.

Sakura dabbed at her eyes with a hankie, memories of how he'd protected her with his life shining in her mind.  He had done so much for her and the memories of how she would see him in that sad little swing under the tree at the academy made the tears fall faster. Then when team 7 had formed and she had seen him at his full power fighting Zabuza and Haku in the land of waves. Then when he had saved them both in the forest of death during the chunnin exams. She buried her face into her arms.

Naruto finished and the applause took the roof off, tears streaming down the audiences cheeks and hankies waving. He waved to them all and walked off stage with a final 'BELIEVE IT' to them all, grin permanently on his face.
